Amdhan Ali Calls for Unity and Focus After Afghanistan Defeat

Maldives defender Amdhan Ali has urged the national team to remain united and focused on the challenges ahead following their 1-0 defeat to Afghanistan in the opening match of the SAFF Diamond Jubilee Tournament.

In a message shared on social media after the match, Amdhan expressed disappointment with the result but stressed that the tournament is far from over and that the team remains determined to keep its campaign alive.

“The result was not what we hoped for, and we are disappointed with the defeat against Afghanistan,” Amdhan said.

The defender emphasized that the players are already looking ahead to their next fixture and are committed to learning from the opening setback.

“This tournament is not over, and our full focus is now on the next match. We will learn from this result, stay united, and fight to keep our tournament alive,” he added.

Amdhan also took the opportunity to thank the Maldivian supporters who backed the team throughout the match, acknowledging the important role they play in motivating the players.

“A special thank you to all our supporters who stood behind us and cheered us on throughout the game. Your support means everything to us, and we will continue to give our all for the Maldives.”

The defender ended his message with a call for unity as the national team prepares for its remaining matches in the tournament.
