Bangladesh and Afghanistan Share Points in Diamond Jubilee Tournament

Bangladesh and Afghanistan played out a hard-fought 0-0 draw in the Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament on Thursday evening, with both sides unable to find the breakthrough despite creating several chances.

The result sees Afghanistan move to four points from two matches after their opening victory over Maldives, while Bangladesh collected their second point of the tournament following another draw.

Afghanistan looked the more dangerous side in the opening stages, but Bangladesh’s defence remained organized and denied them clear scoring opportunities. Bangladesh grew into the match as it progressed and enjoyed spells of possession, yet neither side could convert their chances.

With the draw, Afghanistan remain unbeaten and are well placed heading into their final group-stage fixture against Pakistan on Sunday. Bangladesh will face Maldives in their last match, knowing that a victory could still keep their hopes alive.

The final round of league matches will take place on Sunday, with Afghanistan meeting Pakistan in the afternoon before Bangladesh take on Maldives in the evening.

Current standings:

  • Afghanistan – 4 points (2 matches)
  • Pakistan – 4 points (2 matches)
  • Bangladesh – 2 points (2 matches)
  • Maldives – 0 points (2 matches)

The result leaves the race for the Diamond Jubilee title finely balanced ahead of the decisive final day.
