Gadhdhoo Receive Warm Welcome in Malé Ahead of Dhivehi Premier League Qualification

South Region League champions GDh. Gadhdhoo arrived in Malé on Thursday ahead of the Dhivehi Premier League 2026/27 Qualification tournament.

The team was warmly welcomed at Velana International Airport by supporters, family members, and well-wishers, who gathered to greet the players and officials upon their arrival. The reception highlighted the excitement and anticipation surrounding Gadhdhoo’s participation in the competition.

The draw for the qualification tournament was held on Wednesday, with six teams set to battle for a place in the country’s top-tier football competition. The participating teams are:

• HA. Dhidhdhoo (North Region champions)
• K. Huraa (Central Region champions)
• GDh. Gadhdhoo (South Region champions)
• Bissburu Sports Club
• TC Sports Club
• Club Green Streets

The top four teams from the six-club competition will qualify for the Dhivehi Premier League 2026/27.

The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has yet to announce the tournament’s start date.

With regional champions from across the country taking part and strong fan support expected from their respective islands, the qualification tournament is anticipated to be fiercely contested. Supporters from several islands are expected to travel to Malé to back their teams, adding to what promises to be a vibrant and competitive atmosphere both on and off the pitch.

Gadhdhoo will be hoping to carry their championship-winning form into the qualification tournament as they seek to secure a place among the nation’s football elite.
