Maldives to Face Afghanistan in Opening Match of Diamond Jubilee Tournament

Maldives will kick off their Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament campaign against Afghanistan next Monday at the Galolhu Stadium.

The tournament, organized by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), celebrates 75 years of Maldivian football and features four teams: Maldives, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

According to FAM, the competition will follow a league format, with all teams facing each other before the top two sides advance to the final.

Maldives’ opening clash against Afghanistan will take place on the evening of June 1, following the tournament opener between Pakistan and Bangladesh earlier in the afternoon.

The official opening ceremony will also be held before Maldives take the field.
