Maziya Cruise Past TC Sports 8-0 in U19 Championship Opener

Maziya Sports & Recreation began their FAM U19 Youth Championship 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion, thrashing TC Sports Club 8-0 in the opening match of the tournament at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The standout performer was Mohamed Ilan Imran, who produced a clinical display in front of goal by scoring four times. His outstanding performance earned him the Best Player of the Match award as Maziya made an early statement in the race for the U19 title.

Maziya dominated proceedings from the opening whistle, controlling possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Their attacking quality proved too much for TC Sports, with Ilan leading the charge in a comprehensive victory.

The U19 Youth Championship 2026 features six clubs – Buru SC, Keyodhoo, Odi SC, Maziya Sports & Recreation, TC Sports Club and New Radiant Sports Club (NRSC). Organised by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) with assistance from the Japan Football Association (JFA), the tournament is being played in a single round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the final on 17 July.

The opening round continues on Saturday evening when Buru SC face Keyodhoo, before Odi SC take on NRSC on Sunday to complete the first round of fixtures.

With an eight-goal victory and an inspired performance from Mohamed Ilan Imran, Maziya have sent an early warning to the rest of the competition as they look to secure a place in the championship final.
